$250 Power Saving Bonus program now open

All Victorian homes are now eligible to receive a once-off $250 payment to counter rising cost-of-living pressures. To be eligible for the boost, households must submit their information directly on the Energy Compare Website https://compare.energy.vic.gov.au.

Eligible households can apply for a $250 Power Saving Bonus from 24 March 2023 to 31 August 2023. The Bonus is available to all Victorian households who visit the Victorian Energy Compare website or engage with an energy affordability service through one of the participating community outreach partners.

For customers living in an embedded network

If you live in an embedded network and have an electricity account, Yes, if your household is in an embedded network and you meet the program’s eligibility requirements you are eligible to apply for the Bonus. You will need to upload a copy of the electricity bill or invoice, provided to you by your Embedded Network Manager.

Households who live in an embedded network will be paid by bank cheque. This will be sent to the service address listed on your electricity bill. Please contact info.vec@delwp.vic.gov.au as soon as possible if you have concerns about having your cheque being mailed to this address. you are still eligible to apply for the bonus. When providing your electricity service details during the online application process, type 'embedded' into the retailer field and select your retailer. If your retailer isn't listed, select 'Other Embedded Network (embedded)'. Embedded network applicants may be requested to provide additional supporting documents at a later stage to complete their application. This may include a copy of your passport, driver's licence or Medicare card.

To apply for this bonus, you will need to

  1. Click the Submit a $250 Power Saving Bonus application button in the yellow section.
  2. In the Terms and conditions, box, please read and scroll to the bottom. Once you are at the bottom of the page, you will be able to tick the check boxes to proceed. Click Next.
  3. Upload a PDF Bill – you can search your email inbox for your electricity bills, download them from My Portal or contact support@energyintel.com.au and we will email you a copy. If you are having problems uploading your bill, you can Enter the information manually.
  4. In the Retailer field, select the Other Embedded Network (embedded) in the drop-down
  5. Complete the rest of the fields and click Next.
    • The account number can be found on the top right of our electricity bill
    • Make sure you enter your email address correctly. Energy Compare will send you emails regarding your application.   
  6. You should receive an email confirmation with your application reference number shortly from Energy Compare. If you did not receive an email, check your junk mail folder or contact DEWLP directly.
